AdverseEvents: Analysis of side-effect reports turns up troubling safety signals for Novartis, Eisai drugs

An analysis of FDA side-effects reports by healthcare informatics firm AdverseEvents has uncovered potentially worrisome signals for two of Novartis’ meds, Exelon for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, and Stalevo for Parkinson’s disease. AdverseEvents reported 11 cases of cardiopulmonary failure, 5 cases of acute respiratory failure and almost 1,200 deaths in Exelon patients. The research also linked Stalevo to 8 cases of stroke.
